Windows 7- How to Add Quick Launch and Change Icon Size
admin | Jan 21, 2010 | Comments 3
Windows 7 default icon size is rather large as previously I was using classic icon in Vista Ultimate which is smaller in size. And I do miss Quick launch toolbar with Show desktop option.
So it’s time to do customization as I needed wider workspace for additional icon and files. After some editing, it does look prettier to my point of view. The after look image as below.
Customizing Steps :
Bringing up Quick launch tool bar
- Move your mouse to an empty area of your Taskbar and right click.
- Go to Toolbars and select New toolbar option.
- Copy %appdata%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch
- Paste it to Folder: and click Select folder as image shown.
- Now you will have Quick launch toolbar.
Moving Quick launch toolbar
- Right click on the empty area of your Taskbar and unselect Lock Toolbar.
- Now drag Quick launch toolbar from the dotted line by holding mouse left click to wherever you want it to be.
- By default Quick launch toolbar is with Text and Title.
- Right click on Quick launch toolbar and unselect Show text.
Editing the Icon Size
- Right click on Taskbar and select Properties.
- Check on Use small icon.
- As for Desktop Icon, Right click on Desktop.
- Go to View and select Small Icon.
Done! Hope these simple customizing steps can be a help to you in exploring Windows 7.
