I personally found that using Google Public DNS is slightly faster than openDNS. To use this service all you need to do is change your DNS setting to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. There’s two ways you can do this, either manually or by using Google DNS Helper. As always I will state both ways so you can choose.
Manual steps to set Google Public DNS in Windows:
For Windows XP:
Go to My Computer -> My Network Places -> Network Connection
For Windows Vista:
Go to Control Panel -> Network and Sharing Center -> Network Connections
For Windows 7:
Go to Control Panel -> Network and Internet -> Network Connections
Once you have followed the above step for your Windows version, proceed as follows:
1. Right click on Network Connection and select Properties.
2. Select IPv4 and click Properties.
3. Fill it with following setting :-
Preferred DNS Server: 8.8.8.8
Alternate DNS Server: 8.8.4.4
Using Google DNS Helper 1.1
