How to Bypass Throttling ISP with SSH

SSH (Secure Shell) is a protocol in creating a secure connection between two computers. SSH was designed as a replacement pro the legacy `telnet` application.

The computer being connected to should be running an SSH daemon, or server process. P2P ended SSH as a stable solution as it will cripple the servers of the SSH providers.

To do it just follow the step:


1. Get an SSH account.
First you need a SSH account. You can try these free shell providers from this catalog or paid ones. (alot of shell provider reframe for the use of P2P).

2. Download, Install and Configure Putty

Download Putty here, pile it somewhere on your workstation and run it. Inside the session screen enter the host name, the port number (22), and tick the connection type box (SSH).

Next, go to SSH –> Tunnels, enter a source port and tick the dynamic box press save. I’m using port 22822 but you are free to choose any available port you like, you can try any individual port like 11111. Its good that you choose an odd port number so that no one is using it.

When you’re finish, remember to save the setting so that you need not to reenter everytime you run Putty. When you are done, press the “open” button on the session screen. A command-line interface will pop-up so enter your username and password with the intention of you expected from your shell-provider that you’ve register.

3. Configure your P2P client

The continue step is to configure your P2P client. I will trade show you how it’s made in uTorrent  but otherP2P clients uses similar setting.

Go to Options > Preferences > Connection. Enter your port number (I use 22822), socks 4 or 5 as type, and localhost in the proxy field.

When you’re done, just restart  Utorrent. SSH tends to be slower than your regular connection, but it’s a splendid solution as torrent connections which are blocked or throttled.
